The cottage is positioned on a small access lane – The Warren – set back from the main A174 road between Saltburn and Whitby. In Hinderwell this road is the High Street. Hinder well is accessible by bus from Whitby, Saltburn and Middlesbrough – all of which have rail stations.
Coming past Staithes entering the village, the Church is in the left, on the right is the old village school, and a phone box. If you stop near the phone box, you will see the cottage set back from the road. The access lane runs at right angles to the High Street, with a line of cottages along the lane. 6 The Warren is the third of the four cottages parallel with the High Street.
There is a very good bus service between Whitby and Saltburn that passes the cottage if you are arriving by train to Saltburn or Coastliner Bus to Whitby.
